Silicon Awakened! Integrated Circuit Design and Fabrication
Core Technology
The centerpiece of each of the integrated circuits in the Silicon Awakened! product line is the proprietary core functionality consisting of multiple parallel state machine engines - each controlled by random processes based on the mapping of parametric probability density functions. This technology, independently developed by Redfire, is an incredibly versatile building block for a wide variety of custom integrated circuit devices.
Each of Redfire's products using the Silicon Awakened! technology has been optimized for the target application by the design and implementation of its state machine architecture and parametric controls. These controls define the bounding and filtering coefficients for the random processes as well as the interactions between members of collections of random processes.
The result is an integrated circuit product line capable of producing highly complex continuous streams of random output signals with application specific characteristics. External signal paths from the outputs as well as internal signal paths from partial products provide the required feedback to the random value generation block which is at the heart of the Silicon Awakened! technology.
I/O and Peripheral Functions
User input functions incorporated into the devices permit external analog and digital signals to modify some of the parametric controls in real time during operation. Analog and digital output drivers deliver the random signal streams from the core circuitry to the outside world.
Additional analog and digital inputs and outputs are provided on most products to implement auxiliary support functions specific to the individual applications. These secondary integrated functions simplify the design of the final application circuits by reducing the number of external circuit components required for anticipated operational features.
Fabrication
The silicon die for Redfire Technology's Silicon Awakened! products are fabricated in ISO-9001 certified manufacturing facilities operated by major semiconductor companies. Device packaging and labeling operations are performed in ISO-9002 certified processing plants to Redfire's specifications.
Development
Concepts for new applications for the Silicon Awakened! technology are generated by the creative minds at Redfire as well as from requests by our customers. Redfire develops the high level architecture and internal configuration for each new device by designing its parametric control structures, state machine interdependencies, and I/O functions. Next, prototype devices are produced using an enhanced process which, though more complex, provides the ability to make slight parametric modifications during the final manufacturing stages. After the design has been finalized and validated, production parts are manufactured using standard processes optimized for higher volumes.
